Lawrenceville, GA 06/07 – ProHealth Integrated is pleased to announce about the different solutions it offers for helping headache sufferers. This Lawrenceville chiropractor takes pride in being able to provide assistance toward pain relief from headaches with the use of effective pain management techniques.

Headache is one of the most common ailments that humans are susceptible to. Almost, if not, everyone has had a bout of headache at least once in their lifetime. There are various kinds of headache attacks, ranging from being a slight discomfort to a completely debilitating condition. Around 4.5 million Americans are suffering from different types of headaches.

The most common kinds are migraines and tension headaches. An estimate of 40 million dollars are being spent yearly for both over the counter and prescribed medications for headache pain relief. Although such medications have been proven to be effective for getting rid of the pain, they are not able to completely eliminate the source of the pain. Because of this, the headache ends up coming back again after some time.

Modern investigations on the causes and possible management of headaches have been continuously done. A significant output includes a specified connection between headache attacks and certain tension in the muscles located at the base of the neck. When muscles contract, they disrupt the regular flow of nerve impulses in the sensitive fibers that can be found at the part of the neck that connects the brain and the spine. This tension causes the headache to occur.

A new strategy to efficiently get rid of the headache is by utilizing two important procedures. The first part entails the removal of the pressure exerted by any spinal misalignments on the nerves. The second one involves the reduction of the tension in the neck muscles for the purpose of minimizing the pressure on the nerves as an effect of tight muscles.

If back pain is caused by a herniated disc, the chiropractor can perform a spinal adjustment. During this, the dislodged disc can be gently maneuvered back into its correct place. Back pain is one of the very common conditions that majority of the population have gone through at least once in their entire lifetime. It can come in different levels of severity and may be localized at a certain point in the back part of the body. The major classification includes the upper, mid and lower back. Either of these points can experience slight, moderate and severe pains.

Most cases of back pain involve the lower area of the back. This can be due to years of posture mismanagement even when simply sitting down, standing up or when picking up something as well as in lifting heavy things. These are all natural movements that are part of the activities of daily life. However, the lack of proper posture and positioning can result to great damage on the spine. This is manifested in the back pain one experiences.

For most individuals, back pains are nothing serious considering how they tend to go away after a few days. The real problem is how they tend to come back some time after that. This is because the real source of the problem is not fully eliminated. Most options available today are focused mainly on getting rid of the pain, without ample consideration on the possibility of recurring pains. More so, there are instances when the recurrence can bring about more serious and debilitating effects on the individual concerned.

Lawrenceville Chiropractic Care Helps Relieve Back Pain Naturally

June 9th, 2010 by bacdoc

First, the bad news: your Lawrenceville Chiropractor cannot prescribe powerful pain-killers for you. Now for the good news: a Chiropractor doesn’t need to prescribe powerful pain-killers for you! A Chiropractor will only prescribe natural supplements that will aid your body in healing and maintaining itself.

Lifting heavy boxes incorrectly, sitting on a wallet, slouching — these can all lead to a painful back, or it may be something completely beyond your control. There are numerous activities, and even natural deformities that can lead to a chronically sore back. Piriformis syndrome, also called “wallet sciatica” is the result of the sciatic nerve travelling through the piriformis muscle instead of underneath. This results in the sciatic nerve being compressed whenever a person sits on their wallet.

Many problems are attributed to vertebral subluxation (when the vertebrae in your spine are not positioned correctly). Symptoms can include back pain, headache, numbness or tingling in the extremities, weakness, stiffness and more.

Vertebral subluxation causes a nerve to be “pinched, ” which impedes its function. This effects the area it is linked to (be it a lung, the heart, or your lower back). The spine is the center of the central nervous system, and responsible for relaying every command from the brain to its intended destination. When this line of communication is blocked-off, it can have major effects on the body.

Fortunately, vertebral subluxation can be corrected. A Chiropractor will make a manual adjustment to manipulate the joint into correct position. After the joint’s position has been corrected, the Chiropractor will prescribe exercises to strengthen the muscles responsible for holding the joint in place.

By continuing your prescribed exercise routine, and returning to your Lawrenceville Chiropractor for regular adjustments, your body will begin to acclimate to its natural position. This means you will require fewer adjustments, your body will maintain adjustments for longer, and back pain will be a thing of the past. Lawrenceville Chiropractic Care Helps Relieve Back Pain Naturally And Quickly

Your Lawrenceville Chiropractor manipulates joints to make your body work for you, naturally. They don’t prescribe expensive medications or pain-killers — they don’t need to. Instead they aim to have your own body heal itself. After all, who knows better how to heal your body?

Numerous things can lead to a sore or stiff back. Lifting incorrectly, slouching/poor posture, natural deformities, and the list goes on. Sciatica, a symptom caused by reduced function of the sciatic nerve can cause terrible pain, possibly extending down one leg. Piriformis syndrome causes sciatica when the piriformis muscle squeezes the sciatic nerve, resulting in sciatic symptoms

Vertebral subluxation causes many problems, including a chronically sore back. Vertebral subluxation describes the symptoms that occur when the spine is not aligned correctly. These symptoms can also include pain in other areas, weakness, stiffness, or numbness and tingling.

When the spine is not aligned correctly, it can “pinch” the nerves enclosed within it as well as the nerves extending out from it. When these nerves are pinched, their function is reduced. As the spinal cord is responsible for relaying all of the brain’s commands all over the body, the effect of a pinched nerve may be understandably serious.

Fortunately, many problems disappear after the spine has been manipulated into correct position. After a Chiropractor has corrected a misalignment of a joint, they may prescribe exercises specifically targeted on muscles that have been weakened due to reduced nerve impulses (from a pinched nerve). As the muscles get stronger, they are able to hold their correct position on their own.

As you continue to visit your Lawrenceville Chiropractor for adjustments, and your muscles regain strength, you will require fewer adjustments. Your body will be able to maintain its natural-state for longer, and without any help. Any pain caused by the misalignments will melt away leaving you free from pain. Lawrenceville Chiropractic Care Helps Relieve Back Pain Naturally Without Pain Medication

The discipline of Chiropractic focuses on correcting problems in skeletal alignment to allow the body to heal itself naturally. Your Lawrenceville Chiropractor uses the latest innovations in Chiropractic to help ease your pain, and return your back to optimal functioning condition.

Numerous activities can lead to back pain — incorrect lifting, slouching, bad posture, and other habits. Some problems may be beyond your control, and may simply be the result of natural deformities. Piriformis syndrome causes sciatic symptoms due to the sciatic nerve being routed through the piriformis muscle instead of underneath it. The result is that whenever the piriformis muscle is stimulated or spasms, it can “strangle” the sciatic nerve resulting in sciatic symptoms: sore back, leg/foot pain, tingling or numbness down one side of the body.

Vertebral subluxation is the leading cause of back pain, and is the result of the spinal cord falling out of proper alignment. A subluxation can pinch nerves, resulting in stiffness, soreness, frequent headaches, and numbness or tingling in extremities.

The spinal chord is like the switchboard of a telephone network, routing all the signals from the brain to every part of our body. When one of its nerves are pinched, it effectively blocks communication to the area that nerve serves. Obviously this can have extremely detrimental effects on a person’s body, and since almost every part of your body is served by the spinal cord, symptoms may affect nearly every part of it.

Vertebral subluxations are correctable, however. Through manipulation of the joints in our spine, a Chiropractor adjusts the spine to return it to its natural position. After a correction has been made, a Chiropractor may prescribe exercises tailored to strengthen the muscles weakened by the pinched nerve, and/or to strengthen the muscles responsible for holding the corrections in place.

As you continue visiting your Lawrenceville Chiropractor for regular adjustments, and the problematic muscles are strengthened through exercise, your body will maintain adjustments for longer. As your nervous system returns to normal function you will require few adjustments, and soreness in your back will simply disappear. For relief from back pain or other types of aches and pains, you don’t need powerful drugs and chemicals in your body; the natural methods of your Lawrenceville chiropractor provide a better solution. Chiropractic Treatment Can Ease Nerve Pain

March 6th, 2010 by bacdoc

If you have been suffering from sciatica or a related condition, you can ease nerve pain with chiropractic treatment. Most nerve pain is caused by a sudden traumatic event, such as in a car accident or by a football injury. Cumulative stress and damage from poor posture or being significantly overweight may also lead to nerve pain over time. Chiropractic adjustments can correct many of the physical imbalances that cause this damage.

When you see your chiropractor for treatment to ease nerve pain, he or she will first perform a full battery of diagnostic tests, including CT scans, MRIs, and x-rays. This will help the chiropractor narrow down the exact source of the nerve pain. Sciatica is the most common cause, occurring when the vertebrae of the spine are out of alignment and pressing down on the sciatic nerve. Nerve pain can also occur in other areas of the body where ligaments and bones are not aligned correctly. It usually is felt as a mild burning or tingling sensation in the legs or back.

Because most of the discomfort is caused by pressure from the vertebrae or other bones, it is a natural fit to ease nerve pain with chiropractic treatment. Chiropractic adjustments can realign the vertebrae to relieve the pressure on the nerves and eliminate the pain. Often, this simple adjustment is all that is needed to relieve severe nerve pain. In addition to spinal adjustments, ice may be needed to reduce the swelling and inflammation in the area before the nerve pressure will be completely relieved.

There are some other technology-based treatments your chiropractor may use to ease nerve pain. The most common of these is the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device. These machines are also frequently used by doctors and physical therapists to stimulate muscles and speed up the healing process. The TENS equipment works by stimulating contractions in certain muscles to offset an existing imbalance in the body.

Ultrasound equipment is also being used more and more by chiropractors in treating nerve pain. Ultrasound machines create sound waves that produce heat to soothe and heal the tissues of the body. It also will increase blood circulation, which reduces swelling and pain. Ultrasound is not usually the only option used to ease nerve pain with chiropractic treatment. Most chiropractors will combine the ultrasound sessions with one of the other forms of treatment to give the patient maximum relief.
